The people in this gym have practically raised me. I've been training at SMA since I was a kid and the teachers have given me many life lessons I will always remember. They treat you like true family!

John David Shackelford in my opinion is the best mixed martial arts coach in the tri-state area! This gym is so much more than just a place to get in shape and learn self-defense and get to the next level as a fighter or Jiu-Jitsu practitioner it is a Brotherhood of great people! I always have a great time when I go and love people I train with!

I went for a trial run this week. It's a great place. The staff is friendly and it was great working out with a group that was working for the same goals! Motivation is in the air and you are not judged by what you can't do, just encouraged to push to do your best. Would highly recommend.

Last night was my first night a Shackelford's Mixed Martial Arts. I was a bit intimidated walking in, but that quickly changed. The staff and other students were very friendly and helpful. Great experience.

I can honestly say that it doesn’t matter if your a pro or a complete beginner (like myself), everyone is made to feel welcome here! My son started in the kids class about 3 months ago and I was so impressed that I signed up too! Shackleford’s is a great place to bond with your kids over Martial Arts, get in shape, relieve stress and build friendships. I highly recommend!

Are Martial Arts Classes for Kids too Expensive?

Shall we discuss the elephant in the room? Kids Martial Arts Classes can be EXPENSIVE! How do you, as a parent, decide if Kids Martial Arts is worth it?

One of the first things parents want to know is- “How much is it?” Followed closely by- “and how many classes is that for?”

I argue that’s the wrong question to ask. You’re focusing on the wrong thing. Kids Martial Arts programs are not about quantity but about QUALITY!

Before you can even begin to decide if the investment is “worth it” you have to really think about what you’re investing in.

What are you hoping to get out of the program?

Are you just looking for something to keep your child busy for a while a couple of afternoons a week?

Or, are you looking for a program that can mold your child into a successful, confident, respectful person who can handle him or herself in any situation?

How about better grades? Self-Defense in a bullying situation? Discipline? Respect? Work ethic? Focus?

If I could wave a magic wand and instantly instill these characteristics into your child, how much would that be “worth”?

How much would you be willing to pay to give your child the biggest advantage possible in life? How much to see your child grow into a productive, successful, respectful, disciplined adult?

I think you’ll agree that no price is too high to see your child grow into this type of person.
